We Live Too Long

AUTHOR Thundy, Zacharias
PUBLISHER Independently Published (02/20/2020)
PRODUCT TYPE Paperback (Paperback)

Description
I had written earlier the book on the killing of Jesus, which has led me to write this little book, which is about my/your/our death in light of Jesus' own death as manifested directly and indirectly in the Gospels, reminding me that there is much that is in common with Jesus' death and our death but with a difference; that is, according to received tradition, though not verifiable, Jesus died at the age of thirty-three; however, these days we die often after eighty or ninety with some of us living up to one hundred years or even longer; maybe some of us may even aspire to live to 120, the age of Moses But Psalm 90:10 says, "As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years, yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; for soon it is gone and we fly away." Some of us may already have had encounters with death, and some of us may have died more than once and have come back to life. That means we may know the process of dying especially since we have all seen dying persons in hospitals and nursing homes countless times. We too know that we are all involved in the process of dying from the day we were born. Also, we know that we cannot avoid death because nothing is certain as death and taxes. I shall look at death from religious literature primarily and only secondarily from science and the medical profession. But the focus of this study is dying as a human, free act.
